The UK's next Prime Minister will be a woman, but this is no victory for feminism

From Where I Stand — In just a matter of months, there may well be women in the highest positions of public office on both sides of the Atlantic. Clinton's Presidential campaign looks set for victory, and the new Conservative Party leader in Britain will definitely be a woman too. But let's be clear, being a woman doesn't make you a progressive feminist, if your policies leave other women behind.

Brexit Britain: You've been played

The roots of racist resentment — As the UK votes to leave the European Union, the population is left to face a hard truth. Remaining in the EU isn't pleasant, but this right-wing Brexit is worse

Stripping back the stigma — Jo Cox, a British politician, was yesterday shot dead by a man in her constituency. In the aftermath of her killing the press have been quick to apportion blame - sensationalist headlines ignore his alleged far-right politics, instead focussing on his as yet unknown mental health problems. They say it’s not political, but this killing was political – and so too is our mental health.

Take it from me as a young British Muslim: Islamophobia is alive and kicking

From Where I Stand — Comforting as it may feel to tell ourselves that we're heading towards a post-racial era, the reality is this is far from the case. Islamophobia is spreading on both sides of the Atlantic, and as with all forms of racism it targets anyone with a skin tone that doesn't quite match.

A life of perpetual adolescence — When we were kids, growing up looked so simple. For most of us in our 20s life hasn't quite turned out as planned: job security, houses, long-term partners? Not quite. In some ways it's liberating, but for young women like writer Abi Wilkinson wanting children there's a dilemma - to wait for stability, or to start a family before it's too late.
