Human beings have a natural desire to explore, but sometimes it can feel like the city doesn’t offer the adventures we would like. Trudging back and forth to work just can’t compete with the open road or getting lost in the wilderness.
Space Explorer hopes to nourish our hunger for discovery through an immersive public art experience on the streets of Hackney. They’ve gone to Kickstarter to help fund their ambitious concept that will involve using smartphone location technology to guide users between new outdoor display spaces with a bespoke audio soundscape. They’re also producing a magazine and series of events linked to the programme of stories they’ll be telling through the app and on walls around the borough.
Documentary photographer Robin Mellor’s Another Space & Time will kick off the project and use the four-dimensional storytelling platform to take people on a though-provoking journey through the present and past of one of North America’s desert communities.
Find out more about Space Explorer and support the project on Kickstarter.
